“Thai Element” Restaurant
Tucked away in the heart of Koh Phangan, Thai Element isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a designed experience, crafted from the ground up to transport guests into a lush, immersive jungle. Every element of the space was carefully envisioned and realized by Studio ZAZ, with a singular goal in mind: to create a dining journey that feels intimate, wild, and deeply connected to nature.
The concept, developed and led by Studio ZAZ, draws from traditional Thai temple architecture and spiritual aesthetics, reinterpreted through a contemporary, sensory lens. The idea was not only to serve food — but to support the entire act of eating with an environment that engages all senses.
Dense planting was used to create a maze-like flow that invites exploration, discovery, and moments of calm. Every seating area was intentionally designed to feel private yet connected — nestled in greenery, under canopies of trees, surrounded by natural textures and soft lighting.
A central design motif was the use of natural and locally sourced materials — bamboo, stone, carved wood — harmonized with water features, spirit-inspired shrines, and a handcrafted bar rooted in Thai symbolism. These design choices aren’t decorative; they’re functional in shaping the atmosphere: grounding, soothing, and alive.
Thai Element is where architecture and landscape meet to enhance flavor, conversation, and presence. It’s a place where you don’t just eat in the jungle — you become part of it.

This sauna combines a classic wooden interior with a playful, modern touch. A round polycarbonate window with built-in LED lighting adds a colorful glow and unique atmosphere. The simple structure feels warm and inviting, while the lighting feature makes the space feel a bit more special. It’s a cozy and creative take on a traditional sauna.
At Thai Element, our design vision was to create more than a place to eat — we wanted to build a living experience. Inspired by the lush tropical surroundings of Koh Phangan, the restaurant blends raw natural textures.

We worked closely with local artisans to integrate bamboo, reclaimed wood, and natural stone, bringing authenticity and sustainability to every detail. The open-air layout connects guests to the island’s breeze and greenery, while subtle lighting and warm tones create an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere.
The result is a space that feels organic, rooted in Thai culture, yet timeless in its design. Thai Element is not only a restaurant — it’s a gathering place where architecture, nature, and culinary art flow seamlessly together.
